WHAT ARE THEY?
Everything we do at CLF and [UN]common is focused around one thing: Discipleship. Going into our summer programming, we were praying and dreaming about ways that we could:
1) cultivate community and
2) improve our discipleship process. That is where community groups came in.
Each week throughout the summer there will be two community groups; one for junior highers (6-8th grade) and one for senior higher (9-12th grade). These will take place in our leaders assigned houses on specific dates through-out the summer. At community groups, teenagers will be involved in playing games, eating food, hanging out, and hearing from the Bible. We already have curriculum planned for the entire summer!
As a parent, you will find that this is a great way to work with the hectic schedules that come with summer. We have a list of all the dates that the groups will be meeting throughout the summer below, as well as the addresses each group will be at. Each house is owned by one of our leaders, and there will be multiple adult leaders at each one. Community groups will last from 6:30pm-8:00pm each night.
WHY?
We all love summer, but it can also be very busy and very hectic. With everything that families have going on, it makes it difficult to attend a static, weekly event. Community groups were designed in such a way that allows more opportunity for students to attend. Moreover, we believe summer is one of the best times to build friendships, grow in our relationships with God, and experience the joy that comes with following Christ. We are excited for community groups and we know they will be a hit!
